Appliances
are complex machines that combine elements of enclosures (the
housing), motors (the drive force) and a series of moving and
stationary parts. Noise and vibration may be internally generated
from the motor (e.g. an electric drill), from the work being done
(e.g. the spin cycle of a washing machine) or from airflow (e.g.
flow from an exhaust fan used to dissipate built up heat and/or
gasses). The offensive vibrations may propagate through the
appliance housing to be felt or heard at the point of interface with
the outside environment and beyond.
Isolation of the motor is not always the answer to noise and
vibration issues when dealing with appliances. SmartSkin can
identify the cause and source of the offending noise and/or
vibration and design solutions to best meet your needs.
